0Review: Gopher for busy London mums with a long to-do list
On Saturday I realised a week had gone without me getting to the organic food shop on Chelsea Farmer’s Market where I was planning to go to buy a specialist baby porridge, and the blue girls coat I needed to exchange for a pink one to please three-year-old Big Girl was still lying on the kitchen table.
It’s not always particularly tempting to run errands with a three-year-old and an eight-month-old in tow – particularly not since our car was stolen last month – and I want to prioritise fun activities with my family on weekends.
When I had the opportunity to try personal concierge service Gopher, which specialises in running errands for Londoners, it was easy to accept. I went online and entered details of the Holle baby porridge a friend had recommended from Here on Chelsea Farmer’s Market, and then entered a new job for the coat that I’d bought in the wrong colour, according to Big Girl.
I received a PayPal invoice for the cost of the baby porridge, and for the lattes from Gail’s that I added on to the coat job in the last minute–I really wanted my favourite take-away coffee – and within around two hours we had the porridge, the pink coat instead of the blue and two lattes. We had been at home cooking dinner and playing with the little ones instead of dragging them around running errands.
The Gopher who completed both our jobs was friendly and reliable, and after browsing the Gopher site I can see many of the Gophers who run the errands are London students. The service felt very secure since payments were made via PayPal, and the Gopher who helped us had my contact details and called to make sure he went to the right shop.
With too few hours in the day to do everything I want to and traffic seemingly getting worse and worse, I loved getting a few things ticked off my to-do list on Saturday, and I think an on-demand personal concierge service like Gopher offers a great service to busy mums who might benefit from a helping hand to fix any ‘I don’t want to wear a blue coat’ emergencies.
