18 London kids holiday camps for summer 2018

Chelsea Quavers
From 16 to 20 July and 24 to 26 July, Chelsea Quavers is hosting summer workshops for children aged 4 to 12 years, focusing on musical enrichment and including songs from different genres and a variety of instruments. The workshops will take place at The Hall of Remembrance in Flood Street in Chelsea, and there are morning sessions from 9am to 1pm for four-year-olds (£75 per day), and full day sessions from 9am to 4pm for older children (£95 per day).

First Hand Experiences 
For outdoors-themed holiday camps, First Hand Experiences takes children on nature-inspired adventures, offering a packed day camp programme in Fulham for children aged three to 11 and sleep away camps in Kent for children aged seven to 14 years. The day camps are split into a Palace Pioneers Programme for children aged 3 to 5 and a Wild Explorers programme for children aged 6 to 11. In terms of Palace Pioneers, half-day sessions are £150 for 5-day weeks and full-day sessions are £300 for 5-day weeks. The camp day can include forest school activities in a designated woodland area, gardening, nature-based arts and crafts, making lunch and snacks and more. Wild Explorers also use the Fulham-base where there are nature-inspired activities, but this camp also includes field trips to London’s green spaces (£300 for a five-day week or £65 per day). For the summer, there are First Hand Experiences holiday camps from 9 July to 31 August.

Teddy Tennis and Tribal Tennis
Children’s tennis programme Teddy Tennis is running morning tennis camps in Battersea Park, Wimbledon Park and Canbury Gardens in Kingston for children aged 2 to 5, and their new Tribal Tennis programme for children aged 6 to 11 years will have full-day tennis camps in Battersea Park on weekdays from 23 July to 24 August. The Tribal Tennis camps are 10am to 12pm or 1pm to 3pm (£30 per session), or 10am to 3pm (£55 per day). Younger players can sign up to the Teddy Tennis camps, and there are 45-minute sessions for 2 to 3-year olds at 9am every morning on camp days, and children aged 3 to 5 can do 2-hour Teddy Tennis camp sessions from 10am to 12pm.

Playball
Multi-sports programme Playball typically runs holiday camps in Battersea. Each Playball holiday camp tends to start at 10am in the morning and finish at 1pm and the sessions are aimed at children aged 3 to 9 and cost £30 per child. Playball is currently taking bookings for May half-term, and dates for July/August had not been published at the time of writing.

Yellowbird Education
London school specialist Yellowbird Education is running four-day and five-day creative writing workshops starting on 16 July, 23 July, 20 August and 28 August at Parsons Green Prep School in Fulham. The course is aimed at children aged 6 to 12 years and runs from 10am to 2pm on each day. There are a maximum of 8-10 children in each group, and the course is £349 per child for the four-day course and £399 for five-day courses. Yellowbird is also running English exam preparation courses and comprehension courses for 7+, 8+ and 11+, and handwriting courses and more over the summer holiday.

Annabel Croft Tennis Academy
Annabel Croft Tennis Academy is running weekly summer holiday courses for children aged 4 and over in Fulham, Wimbledon and Roehampton. There are red, orange, green and junior camps for different age groups, and the first summer camps start on 16 July (Prices and times vary).

Little House of Science
Children’s science class provider Little House of Science is running summer holiday camps for children aged 4 to 11 at Imperial College in South Kensington from 9 July to 7 September. The themes for the camps vary each week, and it is from 9.30am to 3.30pm every day (£395 per child for five days).

Mini Engineers
For LEGO holiday camps, check out Mini Engineers, which is hosting a number of themed, LEGO building camps for children aged five to 11. The summer camps are held in South Kensington, Battersea, Wimbledon, Notting Hill, Dulwich and St John’s Wood on different dates between 9 July and 24 August (Prices vary).

Stag Lodge Stables
South West London’s Stag Lodge Stables,which offers horse riding lessons for adults and children, will have summer holiday Pony Week Courses for children aged five to 12 years. The four-day course is £325 per child, and each day includes two rides as well as stable management lessons. The weekly courses run from Tuesday to Friday every week, with the first course starting on 10 July and the last for the summer starting on 28 August.

Royal Academy of Dance
Royal Academy of Dance is hosting one-week long children’s summer classes for children aged 4 to 5 and 6 to 7 years. The classes, which end with a presentation with props and make-up for parents and guardians on the Friday, will be held in the weeks commencing on 23 July and 30 July in the RAD Headquarters on Battersea Square. The younger children’s classes run from 9.30-11.15am from Monday to Thursday and the older children’s classes run from 11.30am-1.15pm from Monday to Thursday, while the Friday sessions are from 9.30-1.30 for everyone to allow for rehearsals and presentation. The course fee is £110 for one week.

Kite Studios
Sheperd’s Bush art studio Kite Studios typically runs holiday workshops for children aged four to 7 and 8 and over. There tends to be one and a half-hour sessions for 4 to 7-year-olds from 10am to 11.30am (£15 per session), while over 8s can do half-days from noon to 3pm (£30 per session). There’s typically a new theme every day, and in addition to the regular holiday workshops, Kite Studios often have clay camp sessions for children aged 5 to 7 and children aged 8 and over. Kite Studios is currently taking bookings for May half term, and details about July and August had not been published at the time of writing.

Miss Sophie’s Holiday Club
Miss Sophie’s Holiday Club, a London based holiday club provider run by a local primary school teacher, offers a unique programme of London excursions for children aged 4 to 11. Miss Sophie and her staff meet the children at Chelsea Old Town Hall at 9.30am in the morning of an outing and take the group on a trip to a London attraction, incorporating literacy, art, history and science. The staff are teachers or teaching assistants, and there is an adult to child ratio of 1:4 (£80 per day per child). Miss Sophie’s is currently taking bookings for May half term, and dates for July/August had not been published at the time of writing.

Kensington Ballet
For children aged 3 to 5, The Kensington Ballet School offers holiday camps in Kensington with 3-hour long workshops from 9am to noon from 23 to 27 July in Christchurch. The Kensington Ballet School holiday programme typically includes ballet, drama, make-up, costumes and mime.

FunTech
Children aged 7 to 10 can learn to code robots with FunTech in their five-day LEGO Robotics Junior camps, which are available to book in locations like Richmond and South Kensington for the summer holiday (£545 for five days from 9am to 5pm). FunTech also runs a variety of other summer holiday camp programmes, including Scratch with Ozobot camps for the same age group, Java Coder camps for children aged 11 to 15, Mobile App Developer camps for children aged 9 to 13 and many more.

The Little Gym Wandsworth and Fulham
For children aged 3 to 8, The Little Gym Wandworth and Fulham is hosting adventure summer camps in the mornings from 9.30am to 12.30pm Monday to Friday and 2pm to 5pm on Wednesdays from 23 July to 31 August. On Tuesdays and Thursdays there are gymnastics Skill Thrill Camps for children aged 6 to 12 years from 2pm to 5pm.

Perform
Perform, which offers drama and dance classes, is running five-day holiday courses for children aged 4 to 7 in locations including Fulham, Chelsea, Kensington and Clapham. The theme is Neverland, and at the end of the week the children put on a show with costumes and songs for family and friends. There is also a summer holiday drama course for children aged 7 to 12– The Greatest Show on Earth–and this is available to book in Kensington, for example.

Art Barn
Art class provider Art Barn in Chelsea is running summer holiday workshops for children aged 3 to 9 from 13 July to 5 September. The sessions, which are held in the Art Barn location in Gloucester Road or in Emperors Gate depending on the date, run from 9.30am to 12.30pm on each day and cost £35 per child.

The Little Foxes Club

Children’s sports class provider The Little Foxes Club is typically hosting holiday camps in Holland Park, Battersea Park, Hyde Park, South Park and other venues for children aged from 18 months to 11 years. Dates and sports tend to vary in the different locations. The Little Foxes Club is currently taking bookings for May half term, and details for July/August had not been published at the time of writing.
