03 family-friendly London shows to book now
Mrs Armitage and the Big Wave
In October, London families have numerous opportunities to go see the stage adaptation of Quentin Blake’s surf-themed picture book Mrs Armitage and the Big Wave, as Ga Ga Theatre is touring London with the witty show from 5 to 30 October. I can’t wait to go review the show, which is designed for children aged 4 to 7, in Notting Hill, but Mrs Armitage and the Big Wave will also be playing at South West London venues like Royal Albert Hall and Chelsea Curzon. Look out for half-term performances too! (Photo credit: Quentin Blake 1999)
The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show
The stage show based on much-loved Eric Carle children’s classics The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show is coming to West End for a limited season for Christmas following a sell-out, extended run Off-Broadway. The show, which will be playing at the Ambassadors Theatre from 2 December, brings four Eric Carle stories to life–The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse, Mister Seahorse, The Very Lonely Firefly and The Very Hungry Caterpillar–in a 60-minute performance with 75 puppets.
Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox
To continue celebrations of Roald Dahl’s 100-year anniversary, families can now book tickets for the stage adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox, which will hit Lyric Hammersmith in 2017.
The show about the clever fox, featuring music and songs, will be running from 25 January to 19 February and is recommended for children aged 5 and over.
