03 London restaurants to visit with kids this Christmas
Balthazar
In Covent Garden, the buzzing outpost of New York institution Balthazar has been transformed for Christmas, featuring giant gingerbread-house style decorations by the entrance and classic baubles and wreaths inside. The brasserie is one of my must-go places for getting in the spirit of Christmas, and in my view, a meal at Balthazar tends to be ideal for combining with a West End Christmas outing and a stop at charming Apple Market.
34 Mayfair
In Mayfair, elegant restaurant 34 Mayfair is set to get guests in the spirit of Christmas with walls covered in decorations and Father Christmas visiting at times. For a first year, the restaurant has introduced its Miracle at 34 Christmas theme, and walls and ceilings have been transformed with more than 14,000 decorations, including 8400 baubles. Special Christmas desserts have also been added to the menu, and young visitors will enjoy the weekend brunches where Father Christmas will be popping in from time to time.
Ivy Chelsea Garden
In Chelsea, Ivy Chelsea Garden is bound to please families looking for a festive dining venue. The theme this year is Narnia, and the ever-Instagrammable façade has been turned into a wintery scene, and inside restaurant-goers can enjoy frozen forest décor complete with the Snow Queen’s Throne and the Snow Queen’s Garden. On Saturday 21 December, the faun Mr Tumnus from Narnia will be in the popular restaurant between noon and 3pm.
