3 tips for keeping children happy in the heat

In one way I feel like I’m super lucky. I’m not on holiday. I’ve not had to take a long haul flight, but there are temperatures in the 30s. The only challenge has been the kids.

Here are 3 useful things for keeping the family cool and happy:

1. Frozen yoghurt lollies
With the hot weather ice cream has been essential at times, and I’ve loved discovering frozen yoghurt lollies this season. A friend showed me the Claudi & Fin Greek Style Frozen Yoghurt Lollies made with greek style yoghurt, real fruit and Vitamin D, and the strawberry flavour is my favourite. I’ve also tried Yoo Moo frozen yogurt lollies, and I’ll be sure to stock up on these too. Great alternatives to traditional ice lollies!

AquaPlay'n Go 6602. Waterplay sets
We’ve been melting in the garden, and splashing with water has been essential. I think water play sets are amazing for young children for summer, and I loved reviewing AquaPlay a while back. AquaPlay is known for their educational canal system water play toys, allowing children to make waves, drive boats around, pump water or move gates. Some sets are large and ideal for play dates and siblings to play together on hot days, while other sets are smaller and easier to bring out for every day use.

Smiggle Says Drink Up Bottle3. Large water bottles
Earlier this year I reviewed the 660ml BPA-free Smiggle says freeze drink up bottles with a flip top spout  (£10) from stationery brand Smiggle, and although they may initially look large, the size is probably spot on for the temperatures we’ve been experiencing now. It’s all about carrying water everywhere, and keeping the family hydrated.
