3 top iPad apps for baby

Whether you’re looking for a virtual rattle or the sound of a hair dryer, the app store is the place to go. The problem is that it can sometimes be tricky to find the real gems to keep baby entertained when you have an early morning start or get stuck in traffic, but here are our favourite apps with games for baby–all apps which can also be fun for toddlers:

In the Night Garden
The BBC app for In the Night Garden includes a dancing section where fans of the show can tap on the adorable characters to see them dance and sing. There’s also a hiding activity, where little ones can help find Upsy Daisy’s bed, the Tombliboos and their trousers and more, and a washing activity, where children who can drag a sponge across the screen can help Makka Pakka wash his friends’ faces. This app can be fun for older children who like the show, but the dancing can be entertaining for the youngest fans too!

Baby Touch Happy Babies
Ladybird Books has several interactive apps for babies, and the Happy Babies one (see image above) has been our favourite. It features colourful animations and cute animals, and it’s easy for little ones to tap on the images. There’s also the option to play the animations as a movie, which can be equally entertaining for babies. For toddlers, this app is also good for learning words.

Sound Touch Lite
The free baby and toddler flashcard app Sound Touch Lite by SoundTouch includes cartoon pictures of animals, vehicles and musical instruments, and little ones can play around with the app to see real-life photos and hear all the different sounds by tapping on the different cartoon images. Sound Touch Lite is ideal as a first entertainment app for baby, as it’s easy to navigate and only requires tapping skills like the Baby Touch apps.
