03 top spring activities for children in London
Experience the Cinderella magic at Harrods
The new Cinderella film will be in UK cinemas from today, and in connection with the release it’s worth taking little princess fans to Harrods. You don’t even need to enter the shop to experience some of the princess mania. Several of the windows have been transformed to scenes from Cinderella, which Baby Girl was excited to see (after having been very upset when the penguin window display disappeared from Peter Jones after Christmas). For over 3s, there’s also a new Cinderella experience at Disney Bibbidi Bobbidi boutique (see picture above), which sounds really amazing and a fantastic treat for half-term or a birthday.
Feed the pigs in Battersea Park Children’s Zoo
Baby Girl happened to visit Battersea Park Children’s Zoo when the pigs needed to be fed the other day, and she and another young visitor got to help feed the pigs both oranges and carrots. This has been a talking point ever since, and I’ll make sure I now check out feeding times when going to the zoo, which I’m a brand ambassador for because I think it’s such a brilliant local attraction for children. Visiting Battersea Park Children’s Zoo is a fantastic way to spend more time outside with children this spring, and the huge play area and animals are sure to excite little ones.
Learn about gardening in a workshop at Kensington Palace
Historic Kensington Palace offers an array of family activities throughout the year, and the beautiful Palace Gardens are also open for visitors. On Saturday 4 April children aged 4 to 7 can join a one-hour hands-on session to learn about a garden fit for a Queen (12.00-13.00/13.30-14.30/15.00-16.00). Tickets to the sessions are allocated on a first come, first served basis on the day of the workshop. For babies and younger children, Kensington Palace offers regular Tiny Explorers sessions covering a variety of themes. These sessions can be booked in advance, but the toddler sessions appear to sell out quickly.
