03 top tips for buying a high chair
When I went to a design museum when I was little I remember seeing the Tripp Trapp chair on display. It was showcased as an example of great Scandinavian design–a functional and stylish object. The Tripp Trapp chair is also the high chair I remember from my own childhood in Norway, and when we were shopping for a chair for Baby Girl it was the obvious choice for us.
Here are 3 of the things to consider when buying a high chair:
1. Cleaning
Weaning can be messy, and several of my friends have complained about their high chairs being difficult to clean. We’ve not had this issue with the Tripp Trapp chair, and it’s been easy to wipe off stains after each use. Look for a chair with a design that makes it easy to remove anything from a smashed banana to pasta sauce.
2. Longevity
We wanted a high chair that could grow with Baby Girl, and she still sits in her Tripp Trapp chair at home although she usually prefers normal chairs when we’re out now. I like the fact that the Tripp Trapp chair is adjustable, and it will help 26-month old Baby Girl reach the dining table even when she no longer needs the toddler seat (Tripp Trapp baby set).
3. Accessories
If you choose a high chair, such as the Tripp Trapp chair, which comes with a range of accessories, I would recommend getting the accessories to go with the chair from early on. I recently received a sample of a Tripp Trapp cushion, and when I tried it on the chair, I regretted not having bought a cushion in colours that would fit in our kitchen at the same time as buying the chair. We have bought the table top and the harness, and I’ve felt these accessories have been very useful to have. I really wouldn’t have wanted to be without any of them–particularly not the harness, which has been essential for safety.
