5 places I would like to go for Mother’s Day afternoon tea

With Mother’s Day coming up on Sunday, I figured it could be a good idea to give Daddy T a list of where I would want to go to celebrate this terribly important annual occasion:

The Rosebery Lounge at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park
When Big Girl and I were invited to try afternoon tea in the elegant The Rosebery Lounge at London’s luxury hotel Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in December, we had the best mother-daughter London day out and it was such a memorable treat to go there together to enjoy the creative and delicious pastry creations and relaxing atmosphere. The Rosebery is now serving a themed Winter Palette Afternoon Tea, which is aligned with their room packages offering benefits with The Royal Academy. For Mother’s Day, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental also has a pampering package for mums to be treated to a Linda Meredith couture facial and a make-up session using Delilah makeup, leaving mums looking their best for their Mother’s Day celebrations

The Ivy Chelsea Garden
It might not be the obvious afternoon tea destination, but I’ve been a fan of The Ivy Chelsea Garden ever since it opened last year and it’s always felt like a treat when we’ve been for breakfast with the children. It’s also been our restaurant of choice when we’ve had visitors staying with us, and I’ve noticed they serve afternoon tea between 3-5pm, which I think would be fun to try

Number Sixteen
Boutique hotel Number Sixteen is one of my favourite places in South Kensington, as this stylish and colourful Firmdale Hotel is a hidden gem on a typical residential street. When Big Girl was a baby I regularly stopped by for a tea when I was out for a walk, and it’s also been a place I’ve met with girlfriends for afternoon tea or a light lunch. Afternoon tea is conveniently served all day long, and I usually call in advance to ensure it’s fine to come by

Coworth Park
Yesterday we were meant to go to Virgina Water for a day trip, and we had lunch reservations at beautiful Coworth Park (see picture above). We had to cancel our trip yesterday, but I’d like to remind Daddy T that I wouldn’t mind going for afternoon tea on a Sunday instead. Virgina Water is a brilliant area to take the family for walks and my plan was to start at The Savill Garden and walk through Windsor Great Park to Coworth Park Hotel, where we could enjoy a lunch or afternoon tea. Afternoon tea is served twice a day at 2.30pm and 4.45pm in The Drawing Room overlooking the hotel’s terrace and gorgeous countryside beyond

Corinthia London
I recently heard some London friends had taken a weekend break without kids at Corinthia London, and I think this sounded like a fantastic idea. The five-star hotel opened just before Big Girl was born, and I don’t feel I’ve had a chance to go there enough times. They serve afternoon tea in The Lobby Lounge beneath an impressive Baccarat chandelier between noon and 6pm on weekends
