05 reasons a year makes a difference when travelling with a toddler
We’re packing less and sleeping more. Travelling with little ones can suddenly start getting easier.
- Last summer I would go to the beach with the children but it wasn’t necessarily a relaxing experience. This year, I’ve already had a number of days on the beach with the kids, listening to the calming sound of the waves and watching them play together in the sand. Bliss!
- When I was packing to go to the beach the other day, I found our old beach tent, which I found useful with little ones at some point. Now one of our top beach activities is putting on pretend tattoos–much less space demanding.
- We’ve reached the stage where a long-weekend break without a buggy is perfectly doable. It wasn’t completely intentional when we tried it out, but I forgot to bring Big Boy’s buggy when we last went abroad. To my excitement, he walked to the gate when we were leaving, and it wasn’t before we returned to Heathrow that we had some tears. So close!
- On two trips Big Boy has now wanted to sleep in a normal bed instead of a cot bed, and when we last travelled long-haul I realised we hadn’t needed to take a travel cot. Our luggage is getting lighter and lighter!
- On Sunday we had a lie in, and the youngest family member woke up at 10.25am. I can get used to these types of weekend breaks!
