05 restaurants to book for Christmas dining with kids in London
The Ivy Chelsea Garden
One of the restaurants I’ve made sure to book for this festive season is the sophisticated Ivy Chelsea Garden on King’s Road, which looks a bit like a gingerbread house from the outside these days with its floor-to-ceiling decorations that make it an ideal spot for a family selfie and a sure hit with children. The warm atmosphere inside also works well for Christmas dining, and the food has always been great when we’ve visited.
Balthazar
Earlier this festive season we had brunch at NY institution Balthazar in Covent Garden, and the London venue certainly didn’t disappoint this festive season. With wreaths, garlands and a welcoming atmosphere, Balthazar brasserie makes for an ideal festive location, and I liked the brunch menu so much that I’ve booked it again. I’m still thinking about the mouth-watering creme brulee!
Claridge’s
For a five-star Christmas hotel experience, Claridge’s is a choice for many, and the hotel is, among others, known for its themed Christmas tree, which is like a festive artwork and this year the tree has been designed by fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg. Breakfast is served in the Foyer, and I’ve booked it as a special Christmassy outing for the family.
Ham Yard Hotel
For the past couple of years we’ve included Ham Yard Hotel on our London Christmas schedule, enjoying a relaxing hotel breakfast mid-week. In the restaurant at the stylish Ham Yard Hotel, the children have received colouring pencils and colouring books at the table, and in the lobby, we’ve loved seeing impressive gingerbread decorations. I’m yet to see the Christmas decorations this year, but last year, there were jars with sweets for little ones placed in between a collection of gingerbread houses. A winner with the children!
The Wolseley
Mayfair at Christmas time can be magical with all the beautiful lights around the area, and on Green Park the iconic The Wolseley restaurant is another favourite with brilliant service and food. The grand setting makes for a wonderful spot for a special family dining experience any time of the year–including Christmas.
