05 sporty half term activities for kids in London
Pedal Project
London’s Pedal Project, which offers cycling courses for children aged 4 and up, is running three-day courses over half-term in Barnes and Battersea. Each course consists of three one-hour long sessions, and Pedal Project guarantees to get children cycling safely without stabilisers. Most children will be cycling safely after the course, but there are extra sessions at no extra cost if the child needs more assistance. The equipment used for the Pedal Project classes is first-class–lightweight, quality Islabikes and TSG helmets. When I checked, there were still places for some of the half-term sessions in Kitson Hall in Barnes on 23, 24 and 25 October and Twickenham on 26, 27 and 28 October. It is also possible to do a term-time course with weekend sessions.
Playball
Multi-sports programme Playball is running half-term holiday camps in Latchmere Leisure Centre with treasure hunts, Playball games and skills, bouncy castles and more. Playball holiday camps, designed for children aged three to eight, start at 10am in the morning and finish at 1pm and the price is £30 per child per session.
Teddy Tennis
Children’s tennis programme Teddy Tennis is running half-term tennis camps in Battersea Park, Wimbledon Park, Canbury Gardens in Kingston for children aged two to five. There are 45-minute sessions for two to three-year olds at 9am every morning on camp days, and children aged three to five can do two-hour Teddy Tennis camp sessions from 10am to noon every day.
Henry Lamb Tennis
Tennis school Henry Lamb Tennis is running half-term holiday camps on two days at Kensington Prep School and on three days at Lady Margaret School in Fulham. There are Mini Red camps from 9am to 1pm for children aged between four and a half years and eight years (£49.50 per day), and Orange, Green and Yellow camps from 10am to 4pm for children aged between eight and twelve (£67.50 per day). The camps can be booked on a session by session basis.
The Little Foxes Club
Children’s sports coaching company The Little Foxes Club is running half-term camps in a number of parks around London. The sessions can be booked separately or on a weekly basis, and in Holland Park there are football, rugby and multi-sports classes for children aged 18 months and over. In South Park in Fulham the camp programme includes football camps and multi-sports activities for children of different ages. The sessions for the very youngest (18 months-2 years) are one-hour long and cost £10 per session when booked separately, while the older children can do two-hour or five-hour long camp sessions.
