05 things to do for kids in London over the school holiday
1. Catch a show
There are a number of family-friendly stage shows playing over the school holiday, and I’ve put together a list of a number of them HERE
2. Climb aboard Cutty Sark
We went on a family day out with MBNA Thames Clippers and Cutty Sark last summer, and Cutty Sark is still one of the London tourist experiences that stands out for me. We went on a family-friendly tour with a character from the past, which is part of the family fun programme at Cutty Sark, and I thought it was a great way to introduce children to life on board the ship. The tours are recommended for ages 3 and over.
3. Treat little ones to a London children’s afternoon tea
To plan a special afternoon out, book a children’s afternoon tea with Hamleys in Langham’s Palm Court. The children’s afternoon tea menu (£29.00 per child) is available to book between noon and 4.30pm, and it is designed for children aged 12 and under. Young diners receive a complimentary Hamleys teddy bear with their cute and colourful tea menu, which needs to be booked with an accompanying adult enjoying the Wedgwood Afternoon Tea menu.
4. Take a kids holiday cooking class
Family-run cookery school The Avenue Cookery School in Wandsworth runs cooking classes for children aged 8 to 16, and when I last checked there appeared to be availability for the class on Friday 13 April. The Young Holiday Classes are full day classes from 10am to 3pm.
5. Go climbing
For a sporty indoor activity that can be fun for a group of friends or a family (with over 4s), try Clip n’ Climb off New King’s Road. The venue features a variety of walls with different challenges and a viewing area with a cafe where it can be relaxing to wait with younger siblings or other parents.
