Mummy-time Christmas table

5 times I was taken by surprise during our family holiday

1. When three-year-old Big Girl opened her Christmas stocking before she’d received any of her Christmas presents, she pulled out her little stocking fillers with excitement and finally said: ‘Santa forgot I wanted a Belle dress’ Was her expectations really not higher? She was going to have a pretty good day

2. During Christmas dinner my sometimes fussy three-year-old Big Girl asked: ‘Can we have this food every day, Mummy?’ Eeh. What?

3.When Daddy T showed me how many pages he’d read in the book he received for Christmas, I hadn’t even started thinking about opening a book once. Did we go on the same holiday?

4.On the last holiday day I left the house for 50 minutes to hit the sales. I couldn’t have been more rushed and felt proud when I came home to help Daddy T again with the two children in such a short space of time. Daddy T, however, still needed to lie down on the sofa after I returned. How does he think I survive on a weekday?

5.When I returned home after having had breakfast in Balthazar and been to Peppa Pig Live, I realised I’d completely forgotten my plans to brush my hair and put on make-up in the car on the way to Covent Garden. Did no one notice?
