05 tips for travelling to Disneyland Paris
1. Be prepared to queue
We went in March thinking we could avoid long queues, but a Saturdsy in March was almost as bad as a Saturday in August when the weather was much warmer and it was at least more pleasant to be queuing outside. If it’s a cold day, make sure you’re dressed for standing in line outside for long periods of time. I ended up wearing a bright pink princess hat last time, as I soon realised I should have brought a hat and there were few plain adult hats to choose from in the park shops.
2. Download the app
It’s worth downloading the Disneyland app to check live queue times, and know where to go next. Regularly checking the app also means you soon understand what is a good queue time for different rides, and when it’s best to join the queue.
3. Check showtimes before you go or as soon as entering
One of the key attractions for many families will be to see the shows and parades and get an opportunity to meet and be photographed with the characters, and to ensure you fit this in you need to be organised and be aware of all the time slots. The first time we went to Disneyland Paris with Baby Girl we didn’t do many rides, but we had more than enough to do by simply queuing up to meet characters and lining the pavements to see the shows.
4. Bring a buggy
It can be far to walk between rides, and the Disneyland Paris park feels quite spread out. We’ve brought a buggy both times we’ve been although we hardly ever use a buggy in London anymore, but we wouldn’t have wanted to be without one there. The alternative is to borrow a park buggy.
5. Buy tickets in advance
When buying tickets online at the official Disneyland Paris website, you can go straight to the turnstile at the park. The next best thing is to buy tickets from other sites where you get a voucher, and you can go to a voucher machine instead of joining the ticket queue by the gate. There was no queue at the voucher machine when we last visited. There have, however, been long queues at the ticket desk both times we’ve been in the last year, and we’ve been very happy to avoid wasting time there.
