05 tips for visiting Christmas at Kew with children
1. Bring a buggy
For families taking preschoolers to Christmas at Kew, which opens this week, I would recommend bringing a buggy. It can be a long walk in the dark for tired little ones, and I found the path was good for buggies last year.
2. Remember it’s dark
To make it easy to keep the family together, I would consider bringing a glow in the dark accessory, and parents might also want to consider ID bracelets or similar for young children.
3. Stop for marshmallows
Although I’ve heard some families roast marshmallows regularly, this is not the case for us, and stopping to buy marshmallows along the route was a definite highlight for the children.
4. Bring snacks
There are food stalls by the start of the trail, and we regretted not buying more food there last year. The queues were long by the time we got back, and we also then had two tired children. I would recommend bringing snacks to keep the energy levels up.
5. Enjoy the magic!
I was truly mesmerised by the light installations last year, and I kept thinking I wish we’d been able to take relatives from abroad to experience this stunning attraction too. Make sure you get to enjoy it!
