0A two-year-old’s favourite music class in London
‘Please can I tell daddy I want to have a Monkey Music car?’
Baby Girl and I were on our way to Monkey Music in Belgravia when she spotted what seemed to be the car of her dreams. She’s never shown any interest in cars before, but this car was clearly special. It was a silver car with lots of colourful details, including the bright pink Monkey Music logo.
Baby Girl was standing on the pavement admiring the car, attempting to look through the windows and suggesting to me that perhaps this was our car after all. Our black car parked next to the Monkey Music car was just nothing compared to this.
I hadn’t actually realised how much Baby Girl enjoyed going to Monkey Music classes before I took her to some last term. She had been going for three terms from the age of one, but I hadn’t been before and when I went myself too, I could see how much she loved the interactive classes.
I’ve been to three different baby and toddler music classes now, and what makes Monkey Music stand out is not only the well thought out curriculum and enthusiastic teachers who can sing, but also the Monkey character, who appears in every class and is extremely popular among young children. Every class is different and Monkey, who is also available to buy and often to be seen around Chelsea and Fulham, is incorporated into the class theme.
Monkey Music in Chelsea and Westminster is offering free trial sessions this week, and I think the age-specific classes, which are designed for babies from the age of three months to children up to four years, are fantastic for introducing children to music and instruments and help them develop their musical ear.
