0Adjusting baby’s mattress height
I had three options last night. The first option was to stay awake all night to watch Baby Girl. The second option was to cover the floor around her cot with cushions and blankets. The third was to move a sleeping Baby Girl to her buggy, locate the hex key that came with the bed and adjust her mattress height.
After putting Baby Girl to bed yesterday, I suddenly remembered she had learnt to climb. She had been pulling herself up earlier in the day, meaning it was really not safe to have her mattress at the upper level anymore.
Daddy T, who had kindly added ‘lowering Baby Girl’s mattress’ to his list of things to do several weeks ago, was away. It was only I who was at home with my climbing nine-month old sleeping in a bed she could potentially fall out of.
I couldn’t stop thinking that there was a tremendously high risk she would wake up before me in the morning, and I didn’t know how soon I would wake up after my live alarm clock went off.
I was too exhausted to stay up all night worrying about it though. Instead, I found myself feeling like Superwoman and later having a reason to celebrate with some sparkling elderflower and a bag of sweets. My first mummy DIY project complete.
