0Review: Baby Annabell doll for little girls who want to look after a real baby
When Baby Girl had friends over yesterday there was one baby who got a lot of attention. It was not three-week-old Baby Boy. It was three-week-old Baby Annabell, a lifelike baby doll we’ve received to review in connection with Baby Girl becoming a big sister .
Baby Annabell is an ideal big sister doll, as she’s a similar size to a newborn. In fact, her head is even bigger than many newborns, and she can easily wear newborn-sized hand me downs.
The 2.5 year old girls visiting us were impressed. Baby Annabell was boasting the same nappy as Baby Boy, as we’ve tried to involve Bany Girl in newborn care by letting her change Baby Annabell’s nappy when I change Baby Boy, and the baby doll was burping and snoozing–just like the three-week-old they were there to visit.
Baby Girl was also showing off how her Baby Annabell was the perfect size for borrowing Baby Boy’s equipment. The doll has become the most frequent user of Baby Boy’s bouncer and baby toys, which he is still a bit too little to make full use of.
When being moved around Baby Annabell often babbles and giggles–sometimes even a bit too often to Daddy T’s liking. Baby Girl, however, is always excited about the sounds and face movements Baby Annabell makes, and she’s learnt how to keep her busy by feeding, burping and putting her to sleep.
Baby Girl can fill the bottle with water and Baby Annabell then makes sucking movements and sounds when feeding. After the feed she can pat Baby Annabell’s back to burp her to avoid crying, and she can rock her to sleep and lie her flat before Baby Annabell starts snoozing.
I’m not surprised our friends visiting wanted to buy Baby Annabel for their girls. I think the lifelike baby doll is ideal for little girls with maternal instincts, and it can also be a useful addition to a family with a new baby in the house since Baby Annabell can be good for demonstrating baby care and getting siblings involved. For us, I think Baby Annabell has been fantastic for teaching Baby Girl about nappy change, bottle feeding, dummy use and sleep. There’s no debating that we’ve both learnt lots about babies in the last couple of weeks!
Baby Annabell (46cm) wears a onesie, hat and bib, and she comes with a bottle, dummy and pendant. There’s also a Baby Annabel Brother – a baby boy doll with the same features.
