Review: Baby Annabell celebrates 20th anniversary with My Special Day doll

In the past few years, there’s one doll brand that I’ve frequently seen referred to in the annual letters to Father Christmas. It is Baby Annabell that has been a favourite for pretend play, and the interactive baby doll brand continues to bring out new editions and accessories to entertain children.

This autumn, Baby Annabell has celebrated its 20th anniversary by releasing a special edition My Special Day doll (RRP £64.99), and we’ve received one to review. To Big Girl’s excitement, this Baby Annabell doll wears a dress, and it comes with little plates and cupcakes with removable decorations.

Similar to the other interactive Baby Annabell dolls, the My Special Day doll features lifelike functions and can cry, be burped, sleep and use a potty. The children continue to enjoy rocking her to make her stop crying, and putting her on the shoulder to try to burp her.

With the pink party plates and cupcakes, I think Baby Annabell becomes even more appealing to little ones who enjoy pretend play and all things birthday related. Big Girl liked the cute accessories, and I like the idea of cupcake decorating, which is completely mess-free. The decorations are decorative pins that the children have enjoyed using to customising their cupcakes and making them pretty for the doll parties. The party dress is another welcome addition, as we never seem to have enough dresses for Baby Annabell as most of the clothes we have from before are onesies.

Another new doll I like the look of from the new Baby Annabell releases is the Baby Annabell Milly Feels Better doll, which comes with doctor accessories. It has other features, including cheeks that turn red when she needs attention and she can be given medicine or an injection.
