0When baby tries science class with Little House of Science
Baby Boy is growing up quickly. He’s not only already started going to a spa, but he’s also attended his first science class at the age of four months. Better start early.
He was admittedly not old enough for the fun Little House of Science Little Discovery class in Chelsea for babies aged 6 to 12 months, but as a true London baby I’m sure he was still excited to start learning. In the seasonally-themed class, Baby Boy was introduced to various objects related to autumn, and he had a chance to feel bark, tree cones, pumpkins and more.
He also learnt about what happens to trees in autumn, with the class teacher placing a large tree mat on the floor in front of us and letting everyone help put green leaves on the tree first and later red and orange leaves. Throughout the class she explained to the babies what we were doing, telling them about leaves changing colours, for example.
I was impressed with the props, which also included balloons filled with leaves, and how the theme linked to what was happening around us. The class was also varied, including everything from singing to stamping with sponges to see colours change.
In fact, it was different to any other baby class I’ve been too, and I think it seemed good for sensory development and letting little ones discover the world around them.
Only in London!
Little House of Science offers Little Discovery classes for under 2s; maths classes for children aged 2 to 4; and science classes for children aged 3 to 11. The classes are held in various venues in Chelsea, Kensington, Swiss Cottage, Putney, Notting Hill and South Kensington, and from next term there will also be classes in Wimbledon and Chiswick
