Beachwear for new mums

Tine beachI need a new wardrobe. Spending a day on the beach with a baby is very different from spending a day on the beach alone with Daddy T.

When we were on a beach in Juan-Les-Pins in the South of France on Friday, I found myself on a sun lounger in the sand, staring out at glam couples occupying the sun loungers on the pier belonging to the same restaurant.

The day before I had turned up on the beach in a long dress and wide-brimmed hat. This time I had borrowed clothes from Grandma N instead.

I had packed for a beach holiday, but not a beach holiday with Baby Girl. It turns out going to the beach no longer means securing the best spot on a beach pier and avoiding getting sand on towels and in bags.

It now means sitting in the sand, or standing in shallow water and singing about the ‘people on the bus’ while bouncing with Baby Girl. Even I realise that dry clean only cover-ups and long dresses don’t really do the trick.
