0Review: Berg Club personal styling for keeping dad looking cool
In January we left the kids with their aunt and uncle on a Saturday morning, rushed to Harvey Nichols and returned home an hour and a half later with nine new pairs of jeans, including five Jacob Cohen jeans for Daddy T.
It was the one time we’ve been out shopping together in the past year, and the only time I can remember we’ve gone shopping for a major wardrobe fix for Daddy T after having kids.
Shopping for ourselves is suddenly at the very bottom of the to-do list, and that’s why I like the idea of subscription services if they actually manage to pick out cool and wearable clothes fit for the season.
And that’s exactly what Berg Club did for Daddy T this summer. He received one of their monthly men’s fashion boxes to review, featuring an outfit he’s been wearing numerous times in the past few weeks. The bespoke box (£300 a month) included a full summer outfit with suede brown shoes with a chunky rubber sole, white no-show socks, casual red shorts, a blue print shirt and grey cotton V-neck jumper.
It felt like the stylist had picked out a pair of shorts that Daddy T could’ve bought himself if he’d had time to go shopping, and it was brilliant to see how it could be paired with something else than loafers, for example, opening our eyes to a new look. All the pieces were also from brands that were new to us, making the service feel even more valuable.
I loved seeing Daddy T’s excitement when opening the box, and realising that it only took a short survey for someone to choose a cool outfit for him.
In the online survey that’s part of the ordering process, he had been given the option to choose bright colours or greys and navy when describing his style, and he opted for colours, wanting something fresh for summer.
He had also filled in his sizes, and everything in the box was a perfect fit. If there had been items he hadn’t liked or something that didn’t fit, however, he could have exchanged or returned items too. In the survey, he could also add a comment if there was something in particular he was missing at the moment, which I thought was a nice touch.
I’ve also already asked Berg Club if they could do one-off boxes for Christmas, as having seen how good they are at finding stylish clothing and accessories for men, I would love to give the men in our family a Berg Club Christmas box with something cool that they’ll want to wear.
In terms of the monthly Berg Club personal styling service, I can see this being spot on for busy and style-conscious London dads who want to treat themselves to one new outfit a month, or perhaps a couple of new items, as boxes with two Berg Club items start from £79.
