0Best places to watch Wimbledon in Chelsea
Even if you’re not one of the lucky Wimbledon ticketholders and you realise it might not be a brilliant idea for the whole family to join the queue at Wimbledon in the early hours of the morning, you can still go out and experience the tennis fever in London.
Here are some of the best places for watching the finals in Chelsea this weekend:
Bluebird
There might still be a queue to join to get a table for important matches on warm days, but you shouldn’t have to get up as early as if you were to queue for tickets at Wimbledon. And Bluebird is a fantastic place to get in the spirit of The Championships. The pram-friendly courtyard, where they show the tennis on a big screen, is now decorated with giant tennis balls and there’s an all-day café menu, including BBQ. Tables are first come, first served apart from for the men’s final on 6 July when you can book in advance.
Duke of York Square
I remember watching the Royal Wedding at the giant screen in Duke of York Square back in 2011, and there was an amazing atmosphere there. Now it is once again the place to be, as the Wimbledon action at Duke of York Square started yesterday and is on screen until Sunday 6 July. There are plenty of strawberries and cream to purchase and the ice cream bar is open as usual, so you’re all set for a great British summer day out.
The Orange
If the weather turns on us, it might be better to head to The Orange in Pimlico Road. The Orange will be showing tennis on the screen in the pub on the ground floor. For families it might be best to lunch in the restaurant section, where it’s easy to park buggies, and you can enjoy delicious pizzas and salads ideal for summer lunches.
