0Best smoothies for pregnancy and breastfeeding
I never thought I would say that avocado smoothies taste delicious. I used to be a strawberry and banana smoothie type. But after yesterday’s smoothie tasting at Mermaid Maternity Retreat in Chelsea I know I will be thinking much more about how smoothies can be a brilliant addition to my diet – particularly if I were to become pregnant again and go through another breastfeeding journey.
The smoothies served in the restaurant at Mermaid Maternity Retreat are packed full of helpful ingredients, and I now know more about what to look for in smoothies.
For breastfeeding mums, Mermaid had two delicious smoothies with ingredients such as peach and oats – both aimed at supporting lactation and boosting milk supply.
For pregnant ladies, Mermaid had a selection of tasty smoothies with ingredients such as apricot, which is good for topping up iron levels, strawberries, which are rich in folate and vitamin C, and avocado, which is good for folic acid and has also been said to help fight morning sickness.
I felt super healthy after drinking the avocado smoothie, and Mermaid has kindly agreed to let me share the recipe with all Mummy in the City readers. Enjoy!
