2Best way to prepare for life with baby on the move
I’m not sure Baby Girl understands why things have changed in her life. She might not have realised we did a course on Monday. To her, the one and a half-hour Mummymedic Toddler Troubles course probably seemed like any normal play date.
We had invited the doctor behind Mummymedic to join our play date with five mums and five seven to nine-month old babies at a friend’s house in Parsons Green. Four of us did the New Baby Company paediatric first aid course last year, which was great for new parents, but we now wanted to learn more about how to deal with common accidents in the home as the babies are suddenly very mobile.
Since the day of the Mummymedic course, which the five of us paid a total of £150 for, Baby Girl no longer gets to enjoy the view from her changing table. She’s moved to the floor. It’s not that the Mummymedic course scared me though. In fact, I felt a lot more relaxed and confident about how to cope in the event of any little thing happening to Baby Girl.
I just realised that even though I’m now armed with very practical advice about head and mouth injuries, broken bones, cuts, swallowing foreign objects, choking and bites and stings, it’s still not worth taking any risks.
Cleaning products are stored in a locked cupboard, sockets we don’t use have plug covers in them and Baby Girl will be covered up if she were to lie in the grass in Richmond Park where she could get a tick bite. Safety first.
I remember my eldest having two tick bites when we lived just on the edge of Richmond Park! It was horrific-they don’t just bite they bury their heads in and you have to make sure you don’t just pull the body out! EEEww…….Sounds like a great course!
Tick bites are awful! Poor her! I didn’t realise there were typically ticks in parks with deer, so it was great to know little things like that – a very practical course, which I think would be relevant to any new mum.
