0Celebrating the seasons with Bluebird kids workshops in Chelsea
Yesterday I was carving a pumpkin leaning over a communal table in The Food Store at Bluebird in Chelsea while also trying to get Baby Boy to sleep in the BabyBjorn baby carrier I was wearing and avoiding having Baby Girl spill the hot chocolate she was drinking next to me. This is my idea of a fun day out.
We had been invited to the Bluebird kids pumpkin carving workshop, which is now in its third year at Bluebird and is also taking place at 4pm today, and Baby Girl was very excited about going. If we had carved a pumpkin at home this year instead, I’m sure I would have ended up having to do it on my own Friday night after she had gone to bed, as it kept dropping off my to-do list, and I liked the idea of attending a relaxed event instead.
By going to the welcoming Food Store at Bluebird pumpkin carving became something more special. There were crisps and mini madeleines on the tables and we were served hot chocolates while we were hard at work. Baby Girl got involved by doing a bit of scooping, and I cut out the face for us. At the end, there was no mess to clean up and we could simply leave with our pumpkin in a big bag ready for Halloween.
Bluebird often hosts one kids workshop every month, focusing on seasonal events, and earlier this year they’ve had Wimbledon-themed and Goodwood-themed cookie decorating workshops, for example. Before Christmas, Bluebird is running two more kids events-a cupcake decorating class on 19 November and a gingerbread house making workshop on 17 December, which is filling up quickly.
Fun and relaxed afternoon activities for kids!
