What to bring when travelling with bottle-fed baby

Pink babies bottle on whiteWhen I travelled with Baby Girl in October I made a rookie mistake. I was so used to breastfeeding that I completely forgot about bringing a bottle for the formula. Not great.

She had a water bottle, so I emptied that and filled it with formula for her to drink at take-off. It wasn’t before later I realised I then didn’t have anything to give Baby Girl to drink before landing when I usually also encourage her to drink to relieve pressure in her ears.

Even though her bottle wasn’t empty the milk had been stored at room temperature for too many hours by the time we were meant to land.

I’m not sure Baby Girl was too bothered about the situation though. She was more than happy to drink straight from source instead.

At the time, I was still breastfeeding in the evening, so although I was reluctant to breastfeed my rather big Baby Girl on the plane at that stage, I felt I had left myself with very little choice.

But not again. Those days are over. Baby Girl still drinks formula several times a day, but she no longer travels without spare bottles.

We’re both pros now!
