0Celebrating 20 years of Teletubbies
In recent months there have been times when I think it would have been good if 20-month-old Baby Boy had wanted to sit down and watch a children’s TV show. My super active toddler, however, has had very limited interest in TV and when we’ve been flying with him he’s only watched seconds of shows I’ve downloaded for him.
But today I had to look over at Daddy T and smile. We were sitting in the cinema at BFI Film at Southbank at the Teletubbies 20th Anniversary Party, which we had been invited to, and Baby Boy was in his own seat watching the first episode of the new series 2, which is due to air on CBeebies on 13 March.
The British children’s TV sensation Teletubbies was launched in 1997, and the first series of the new Teletubbies filmed in HD premiered last year.
The episode we watched today was the first of series 2 and showed Laa-Laa, Po, Tinky Winky and Dipsy playing at their new outdoor playground, a new addition in series 2, and driving in their new colourful car with horns and seat belts.
Watching Baby Boy, I could see how Teletubbies is spot on for young children who enjoy watching the charming characters and the real-life clips with children exploring the different topics covered in the episode.
It’s all about little ones, and that’s why Laa-Laa, Po, Tinky Winky and Dipsy will most definitely be on our iPad for Baby Boy to enjoy next time we go abroad.
Happy 20th anniversary Teletubbies!
