0Celebrating Moana DVD release with cooking class at Island Poké
On Friday four-year-old Big Girl was sitting on a wooden swing, watching pictures of faraway beaches and eating pineapple cubes. It felt like we could have been at the other side of the world, but in reality we had jumped off the busy Piccadilly Line minutes earlier.
We had been invited to a cooking class to celebrate the 3 April DVD release of Disney’s Moana, a musical animation about the brave Moana who sets sail on a daring adventure to save her people, and we were at the intimate Hawaiian restaurant Island Poké off Carnaby Street.
At Island Poké we sipped on watermelon juice, while diving into the world of Moana by building our own Poke bowl.
It was our first ever experience with Poké, which we learnt usually consists of sliced and diced fresh fish, rice and garnishes, and Big Girl did a great job squeezing a lime and mixing our ingredients after I had peeled a chilli and diced a pineapple and spring onions.
The food was fresh, colourful and tasty, and even Big Girl, who was new to raw fish, enjoyed a poke bowl with edamame peas, fresh avocado, pineapple and raw salmon.
She was most definitely embracing the Moana lifestyle. It looked super relaxing to have supper sitting on an Island Poké swing that look a bit like something that could hang from a palm tree on an exotic white beach.
Thank you Moana and Island Poké!
