0Celebrating the return of Chestertons Polo in the Park to Fulham
The other week I enjoyed a quiet morning with a pastry stop in Mount Street before heading over to Jumeirah Grosvenor House Suites by Jumeirah Living. I had been invited to celebrate Chestertons Polo in the Park 2019, and by 10.30am I was on my second meal of the day – brunch in a beautiful suite with stunning London views.
After the feast, we were treated to an introduction to Chestertons Polo in the Park, which was first launched in a bid to bring back polo to Hurlingham. A professional polo player described how this event is not just about teaching people to play polo, but also about recreating the atmosphere you would get at some events outside the city.
The atmosphere at the introduction was also very upbeat–particularly when George from Sharky & George was shooting marshmallows and running a strawberry-lace competition.
This type of high-energy entertainment is what we’ve come to associate with the Sunday at Polo in the Park. Sunday continues to be the family day, and Sharky & George is yet again leading the pitch invasion, which tends to involve endless games for children.
Families can expect to see activities such as space hopper polo, water balloon shooting and games like Grandma’s Footsteps taking place during the pitch invasion, and there will also be slides and face painting on offer.
In addition, there’s a dedicated children’s area at Chestertons Polo in the Park, and visitors can also enjoy the short polo matches, find gifts in the shopping village and grab a meal in the unique food area, which will feature pop-up restaurants again.
Polo in the Park is now in its tenth year, and the event will be held in Hurlingham Park from 7 to 9 June 2019. This year, children aged 10 and under do not require an admission ticket (Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.)
