Learn the Charleston Stroll for RBLI’s VE Day Doorstep Dance
The other day I had plans to go for a walk, but instead I ended up doing my exercising at home, taking an online Charleston lesson. Elliott from Medway Lindy Hoppers ran a live lesson for Royal British Legion Industries’ (RBLI) to teach us all the Charleston Stroll for RBLI’s Doorstep Dance for VE Day, and the video lesson is now available to watch on Facebook.
Find kids VE Day activities and printables online
There are lots of VE day colour-in sheets and patterns for bunting to find online to celebrate VE day with the children. For colouring, I like the free VE Day printable from Baker Ross, and for more activities, there’s a kids VE Day activity pack to print from RBLI.
Travel back in time with a new hairstyle and homemade treats
The Royal Collection Trust’s guide to VE Day celebrations include 1940’s hairstyle tutorials with instructions for Gibson Tuck and Victory Rolls hairstyles. In addition, there are suggestions for royal recipes to try out tomorrow, and children can also have fun designing their own VE Day newspaper or making bunting by using the downloadable templates on the Royal Collection Trust site.
Watch Katherine Jenkins in Royal Albert Hall
At 6pm tomorrow, Royal Albert Hall will for the first time in the venue’s 150-year-long history host a concert behind closed doors. Katherine Jenkins will perform a half-hour concert, featuring wartime favourite We’ll Meet Again in a virtual duet with Dame Vera Lynn. The concert will be streamed to audiences for free via Royal Albert Hall’s YouTube channel.
