0Chessington opens late for spooktacular Halloween events
Last night five-year-old Big Girl and I had a pretty spooktacular evening. We left the house at 5.45pm to make a short visit to London’s theme park Chessington World of Adventures. We had been invited to preview the Halloween events at Chessington, and couldn’t bear to miss it despite being seriously behind schedule.
From today until Halloween on 31 October Chessington is open until late, and there are special attractions and events for visitors to enjoy in the dark. There are Creepy Caves, which we were told were for the bravest of visitors and recommended for over 10s, and Trick or Treat Wood (see picture above), an interactive theatrical experience where visitors walk through a magical tree maze in groups and meet fairies and goblins and more. Families with young children can also enjoy the Room on the Broom spooky storytelling, and it is exciting for both grown-ups and children to have an opportunity to experience popular rides in the dark if staying in the park late.
Our favourite is the new unique Gruffalo ride, which brings the popular book to life, and Big Girl insisted on taking the boat ride twice yesterday. We also tried the Hocus Pocus Hall, which I think is a good introductory spooky house, but since it was dark outside even I jumped when we first walked into the house.
To get us in the spirit of Halloween, we also enjoyed all the giant pumpkins and spider decorations in the park, and a dance show with dancers dressed in scary costumes and dancing to a Little Mix hit also added to the Chessington magic.
In fact, when we left Chessington with a hot chocolate and Big Girl’s first ever doughnut at 8pm last night we both agreed this had been a real treat. A great spooktacular evening out for young and old!
Creepy Caves Unearthed is a new Halloween attraction for 2017, and it is described as Chessington’s scariest attraction yet. Standard tickets to Creepy Caves Unearthed is £6
