0Testing clay pigeon shooting for Father’s Day with Virgin Experience Days
When Daddy T returned home after getting his Father’s Day present a week early yesterday, he was full of ideas. He had realised how easy it could be to escape the madness at home a few hours and recharge the batteries by doing something fun with a friend.
He and a friend had receive
d a Virgin Experience Days voucher for Clay Pigeon Shooting with Seasonal Refreshments for Two (WAS: £158, NOW: £79) to review, and they headed to Dartford in Kent around 10.45am yesterday for a noon kick off.
After a 4 min drive from the main road, they found themselves in the woods, where there was a small office, a coffee shop and a little valley, where the shooting took place.
There was a group of six attending the shooting experience, and the event started with a safety briefing by the instructor Ian. After also explaining how the shot guns work, Ian gave one-to-one instructions, explaining how to best have a chance of hitting the clay pigeons and giving valuable tips throughout the shoot.
The shooting was organised in three rounds–10 shots for the first two and 12 for the final round–and the clay pigeons came with varying angles and flight.
The experience also included coffee, tea and some Danish pastries, and after shooting, everyone had the opportunity to take some pictures with the shotguns.
Daddy T and his friend concluded that it was a great outing and it made them want to go on more days out. On the way home, they had apparently started planning a full boys trip with a group of friends with shooting, car racing and more.
I’m all for celebrating Father’s Day with cool gifts, but for now I think I may prefer the gift voucher idea for one outing as opposed to loads.
Virgin Experiences, which invited Daddy T and his friend to the clay shooting experience, offers a range of experiences that make ideal Father’s Day gifts, such as an American Muscle Car experience, Thames Jet Boat Rush experience and many more.
