0Collaboration: Getting ready for wintery weather with cozy home essentials
When I travelled to Norway last weekend I spent a morning on the slopes realising I really should have layered up. My toes felt frozen, my fingers were like ice and despite my love of skiing, all I wanted to do after an hour and a half was to escape back inside. The situation called for a big mug of hot chocolate topped with cream and a proper defrosting session inside.
I thought I only had a day of this since I was back in London later the same day, but as the weather seems to have followed me here, I’ve now collaborated with British range cooker brand Everhot to write about winter essentials for the home:
Ice-scraper with mitt
This morning I had to search the car for something that resembled an ice scraper to clear the car windows and mirrors of ice after I had just about managed to pull open the icy doors. I really missed the ice scraper with a fleece-lined mitt that I remember from growing up!
Sheepskin rugs and cuddly throws
Days like these remind me of why ‘hygge’ is a key aspect of the Scandinavian lifestyle. Being used to the type of weather and low temperatures we’re now faced with in London, I feel many Scandinavians are amazing at prioritising making their homes feel like happy places that they can enjoy spending time with family and friends. With fluffy sheepskin rugs, fireplaces and large, cuddly throws, families create cozy spaces in their homes for winter.
Hot water for hot water bottles and tea
When it’s freezing outside, I feel the home becomes even more important to us, and I would be perfectly happy spending the evening snuggled up under a faux fur throw on the sofa with a hot water bottle, a cup of tea, and a laugh-out-loud funny book. A steady supply of hot water from the kettle is a must!
Places to warm up cold hands
Whether it is underfloor heating in the kitchen or a traditional cooker, a home with somewhere practical to warm up after being out in cold weather is always a bonus. I’ve been excited about finding out more about Everhot range cookers, and these provide steady heat all-day, which sounds pretty appealing at this time of year. The traditional-style cookers come in a variety of sizes and in 15 different colour options, and the brand stands out for its passion for British craftsmanship and conserving energy.
