Creating baby keepsakes at Sammy Duder

There’s a reason why Baby Girl’s room will have a framed tile on the wall with her footprints and ’19 Months’ written below. We didn’t know Sammy Duder in Battersea existed before we attended an event there earlier this spring.

As soon as we discovered Sammy Duder near Northcote Road, I realised this is really where we should have been last year to create clay imprints, silver jewellery, framed tiles, or casts, and I was thrilled when we were invited back to the lovely studio to hear more about the selection of unique personalised presents and keepsakes that can be made here.

I turned up with Baby Girl, who dived into the studio’s toy basket, and was entertained by one of Sammy’s friendly staff. There’s a dedicated member of staff looking after each group, making it easier to come with more than one child–or in my case–simply a very active toddler!

After playing with the toys, running around in the party room at the back, and doing some colouring, Baby Girl painted a ceramic photo frame, following instructions from her new friend. At the end, we decided it would be best if Sammy could paint her name and age on the frame, and Sammy did several drawings first to decide where we should have it.

For me, the attention to detail, welcoming approach and product selection is why Sammy Duder is an ideal place to go to create baby and childhood keepsakes. Go small and print footprints or handprints on a framed tile (£25) or plate (from £10), or do something different, such as creating clay imprints (from £30), which can be painted in your colour of choice; silver jewellery with miniaturised feet or hands or fingerprints (from £45); or try casting your baby’s feet (from £295).

All brilliant gift ideas and keepsakes!
