0Creating clay imprint childhood keepsakes at Sammy Duder
When I left hospital with Baby Boy two days after he was born, I ran into another mum I knew, who was also leaving Chelsea & Westminster Hospital with her newborn. Two weeks later I bumped into her again at a dance class, and two weeks after that I met her at pottery studio Sammy Duder in Battersea.
It turns out South West London newborns are very much on the same schedule, and Sammy Duder is the place to go for creating unique childhood keepsakes. I hadn’t discovered Sammy Duder before three-year-old Baby Girl was older, so when we now had Baby Boy I wanted to go early to make clay imprints with both of them.
I think the clay imprints look like little artworks, as they can be painted in a colour of choice and framed in a white wash finish frame. It’s possible to have clay imprints from siblings in the same frame, and we now have Baby Boy’s tiny foot and Baby Girl’s slightly bigger foot painted in beige and framed on our kitchen wall.
I paid just over £100 for the masterpiece, which was available to collect around four weeks later and fits in with the rest of the kitchen decor.
A sweet and special London childhood keepsake to treasure in years to come!
