0Creating family Christmas traditions at Sammy Duder
Every year I feel the pressure is on for me to find 30 hours or more in the run up to Christmas, creating a photo book for the year that’s gone. It’s one of the presents relatives have started to expect, and I don’t feel I can let anyone down although it’s practically impossible to fit in the photo selection and editing work to make it happen.
The good news is that the other Christmas gift for relatives, which is also becoming a tradition, is not so difficult to make time for. It’s making Christmas tree decorations at the welcoming Sammy Duder pottery studio in Battersea.
This year we were invited to our session to review, and three-year-old Big Girl made three decorations with five-month-old Baby Boy helping out with his finger print. The Christmas tree decorations are available in many shapes, including hearts, stars, gingerbread men, snowmen and more, and they come with a Christmas ribbon ready to hang on the tree.
I think they make lovely presents, as they are adorable memories from each year and they don’t take up much space for any of the recipients. They’re also the perfect size for Big Girl when having to do more than one. They don’t take too much time each, meaning she’s happy to finish them in one go, ensuring all our closest relatives have their annual collectible ready and wrapped under the tree.
This year they can look forward to little reindeer decorations painted on one side, with Big Girl’s finger print making up the body and Baby Boy’s finger print being the head. Sammy Duder offers a writing service, so Sammy herself helped finish off the reindeers with antlers and legs and painted ‘Christmas 2015’ on each of them.
A Christmas family tradition I want to keep!
