03 creative London half-term activities for kids
Digital art workshops at Imagination Lab
From 2017, London will have a new Imagination Lab with workshops for kids and adults, and over half-term children aged 5 to 12 and their families can have a sneak-peek of what’s to come from the Institute of Imagination as part of Make:Shift:Do. There will be workshops on Friday 28 October and Saturday 29 October, and activities will include a pop-up digital making space, giving children an opportunity to engage in new experiences using digital tools. Through the use of art, sound and storytelling all participants can get involved in creating and animating their own stories, building their own robotic sound orchestra and working with Kano computers to make and code art. The free tickets for the workshops can be booked HERE.
Decorate the Palace at Kensington Palace
At Kensington Palace, families can enjoy a range of creative drop-in activities this half term. The activities, which are included in the palace admission, will run from 11am to 4pm from Sunday 23 October to Saturday 29 October. Children can help create a vase to add to Queen Mary’s collection, hear how William Kent got the top job in the land because of his choice in paint, find out if they would have made a good colourist, or pick up an around the world shopping trail and help fill the palace with the best decorations from all over the world.
Holiday workshops at Kite Studios
Hidden in a little courtyard in Brook Green, Kite Studios has a unique offering for children with specialist art classes. This October half-term Kite Studios has everything from clay-modelling to print-making sessions for children aged 4 and older. Four to eight-year-olds can do one and a half-hour sessions in the mornings, introducing them to a new art activity in a proper art studio, which seems like a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of London.
