Review: Customise everyday children’s clothes from new Twinkle & me

‘Can I wear it to go to Lapland?’

When we received a matching jumper and dress for Big Girl and Big Boy from newly-started handmade children’s clothing brand Twinkle and me, Big Girl gave her new, unique piece a little kiss. The softness of the jersey cotton and the cute woodland bear print fabric was spot on for a little girl, and I’m not surprised it was the outfit of choice when meeting Father Christmas the first time this season.

With Jersey cotton, the dress was great for pairing with wool tights and casual boots, and it made for a relaxed look on a wintery day out. The best part was that six-year-old Big Girl and three-year-old Big Boy could match, and they were easy to spot in their red, twinning outfits.

The children have few matching clothes, and I loved that I was able to choose the same fabric when receiving the samples from Twinkle & me. Since they’re still little, I like that they can match at times, but it’s not something that’s always easy to find when you have a boy and a girl.

The Twinkle & me website stands out for the many opportunities for parents to order customised and unique everyday pieces for children aged 0 to 8, which are hand sewn in a variety of fabrics–some bold and colourful and others more subtle. There are jumpers, casual dresses, tops and leggings that can be made in a variety of fabrics, and customers can easily select a style, select a fabric and choose a size on the website to order something that suits their taste.

In terms of the Imogen dress that Big Girl received, there were four different sleeves to choose from too, and two different options for the back. I felt that the three-quarter length sleeves were ideal for this time of year, while I would have chosen it as a sleeveless dress if it had been for summer.

For winter, I also loved the look of a grey fabric with a gold foil fox print, and I think Twinkle & me has a number of fabrics that will appeal to young boys and girls. There’s a focus on fun prints, which could look great on little ones, and the Imogen dress (from £38) could, for example, be done in a sweet ballerina or llama print, or something completely different like a navy geometric one.

The Thumper jumper (from £31), which we received in the red bear wood print too, looks great with jeans for a casual look, and I also think it can be dressed up when paired with a white shirt and corduroy shorts.

There is lots to choose from on the Twinkle & me website when you consider the number of prints and variations to the different styles, and it makes for a completely different way of shopping for everyday pieces for children. I think it is a sweet concept to check out for anyone looking for unique and fun relaxed-style cotton clothes for little ones.

For parents wanting to order items for boys and girls that match, the following ranges are all made from Jersey fabric and therefore could match: Thumper Jumper, Imogen Dress, Imogen Jumper, Taylor dress, Taylor top and Harley leggings.
