0DisneyLife combines family favourites from Disney in one easy-to-use app
In autumn I walked into a penthouse suite in a Mayfair hotel with three-year-old Big Girl and a four-month-old Baby Boy in tow. It was the hotel room of Big Girl’s dreams, with Disney soft toys sitting on sofas and chairs and the latest princess dresses in a corner.
She still managed to drag herself away from the Elsa dress on display though when she realised we were there for a demo of a new and exciting app with many of her favourite TV programmes and films. The demo was of the new DisneyLife, which was released in the UK three weeks later.
DisneyLife is the latest digital offering from Disney, combining Disney movies, mini movies, music, kids TV shows and books in one app. It is easy to use even for young children, as content can be accessed not only via a search tool and under named categories, but there are also character worlds, where users can click on their favourite character and see all content related to that character (see screenshot of Woody).
For £9.99 a month, families have access to this huge library of Disney content, which can be streamed in the UK or downloaded in the UK and accessed on the go. I’ve received a trial subscription now, and since starting it we’ve been reading Disney books every day at bedtime on my iPhone. We’re working our way through the Palace Pets books at the moment, and Big Girl has also listened to several Sofia the First audio books, which are available in up to five different languages, on my phone.
With one subscription families can access DisneyLife on up to 10 compatible devices and create six profiles for a personalised experience for different family members. Parents can also limit screen time with the app’s built-in parental controls, and considering how much content there is this probably isn’t such a bad idea.
DisneyLife is compatible on Apple and Android devices and can also be used via Airplay and Chromecast
