0Disney’s The Lion Guard to premiere on Disney Junior
Yesterday I found myself cutting in a press release. I needed the picture from The Lion Guard release, as Big Girl insisted to bring it to pre-school to do ‘show-and-tell’.
We went to the screening of new TV film The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar, the continuation of The Lion King, at Ham Yard Hotel on Sunday and three-year-old Big Girl was talking about it non-stop. We all had to pretend to be a lion family. Baby Boy was suddenly called Baby Kion, taking the lead role from the film.
The film, which is a precursor to the series The Lion Guard starting in April, follows Nala and Simba’s cub Kion who discovers he has a powerful roar. Simba tells him that his special roar means he’s the next leader of The Lion Guard, a guard protecting the circle of life. Kion sets off to recruit new members to his guard, choosing the fiercest, strongest, bravest and keenest.
His dad expects Kion to choose other lions, but instead he gathers honey badger Bunga, egret Ono, cheetah Fuli and hippo Beshte–a crew ready to work together to preserve the Pride Lands.
The 45-minute film features catchy songs, fun and likeable characters and an action-packed story, and despite some scary hyenas, I know we have someone at home who can’t wait to see The Lion Guard soft toys hit the shops in April and watch the series too.
The Lion Guard:Return of the Roar will air on Disney Junior on 8 Feburary at 5.30pm
