0EatFirst online restaurant for easy at-home gourmet dinners
After having children Daddy T and I started ordering much more take away food, and on Pancake Day this year we took the easy way out again. But this time we had been invited to review online restaurant EatFirst, which specialises in ready to heat meals.
EatFirst cooks food designed to be heated at home in the microwave or oven, and we received two portions of neatly boxed pancakes – American-style buttermilk pancakes with smoked streaky bacon and grilled bananas in caramel and honeycomb butter.
It was a delicious alternative for Pancake Day, and after tasting it I found myself rereading the blurb about the head chef. EatFirst head chef Benn Hodges was previously senior sous chef at Roka in Charlotte Street, and before that he worked at The Ivy.
The online restaurant, which is designed for Londoners who work late, run out of ingredients or simply want to try something different, has first made its mark in North London, but generally tries to cover all of zones 1 and 2 in London. Their delivery options are constantly changing since it’s still early days, and I hope they will deliver to Fulham soon too.
They offer 45-minute delivery slots, with the first daily slot being 11am to 11.45am and the latest being 9.30pm to 10.15pm. The daily menu can include everything from breakfast like crushed avocado on sourdough (£7.95) to herb roasted chicken, and there’s even a kids meal on the menu (from £3.95).
For Mother’s Day, EatFirst has another exciting offer, which I’ve been invited to try. EatFirst has collaborated with Shoreditch florist Grace & Thorn to create the ultimate Mother’s Day brunch, and the brunch is available to pre-order online from today. The first 25 customers of each day over the Mother’s Day weekend will have a beautiful arrangement of flowers included for free.
One to watch!
