0A family day out at Bocketts Farm Park
When we had breakfast with friends at Ivy Chelsea Garden yesterday morning I had to share the latest video on my iPhone. It’s a short clip of a pig race that is bound to put a smile on anyone’s face.
I filmed the little race at charming Bocketts Farm Park, which we’d been invited to visit, and it was one of the highlights from our excursion. Three-year-old Big Girl had climbed up on the fence and handed a yellow flag, so we could cheer on ‘yellow’ pig Bradley Piggins. Visitors were lined up around the fenced-in course, and the atmosphere was buzzing, as the pigs raced around at full speed.
If there had been more rounds to watch, we would have happily continued waving the yellow flag and cheering on Mr Piggins, but the good news about the pig race being a short event is that there’s a lot to do at Bocketts Farm Park.
The popular Surrey family attraction, which was only a 40-minute drive from Fulham, has a beautiful outdoor space with a vast area to explore. There are horses, chicken, rabbits, guinea pigs, goats and other animals to meet, and visitors can buy a bag of animal food (95p), which can be used to feed most of the animals.
When I asked Big Girl what she’d enjoyed the most from our visit, I’m not surprised animal feeding came out top, as she’d taken great care distributing food to every single animal she was allowed to feed.
In between the careful feeding, we also had time to find a space in the shade to eat our packed lunches in one of many picnic spots, play in the sand, try the jumping pillows and trampolines, climb on the numerous climbing frames and the pirate ship, go on the slides and watch the over 5s racing around the pedal go-kart track.
If we’d stayed longer, we would have loved to try pony riding, which started at 2.30pm on a weekday, and if it had been raining, we would have stopped by the soft play area indoors too.
Bocketts Farm Park is a sweet family farm park with pretty surroundings, and a fantastic mix of animal attractions, popular indoor and outdoor play areas and fun events for children and parents alike.
