0A family day out at Hobbledown Farm and Adventure Park
Yesterday I took a deep breathe after parking the car. We had been invited to visit Hobbledown Farm and Adventure Park in Surrey, and it felt so refreshing to escape the city on a gorgeous day and let the children be outside in nature.
Three-year-old Big Girl quickly realised I’d taken her somewhere fun, and she started running as soon as she spotted the massive sand play area near the entrance. The sand play area is just one of the numerous play areas built in a medieval theme for children at Hobbledown, and on a beautiful day like yesterday Hobbledown was pretty difficult to leave – even after three and a half hours.
After arriving, we started our tour by visiting the rabbits and guinea pigs before heading over to the outside play areas, digging for marbles, trying the slide and spending a long time on the jumping pillows.
The outdoor play area is among the most impressive I’ve ever seen, featuring numerous activities for older children too, such as a climbing tower and the Hobbledown High Ropes Course with zip wire and more, which looks awesome for both children and parents. It’s also the first place I’ve seen a Zorbing activity and when it’s not windy, it looked like it could be fun to walk inside a Zorbe, a huge inflatable cylinder.
But it’s easy to have spent hours at Hobbledown – even on a rainy day when the indoor play barn with soft play is a brilliant place to hang out – and not explored the animal attractions. Before leaving this time we made sure we had seen all our favourites though. We did the Wallaby Walk-Through, an attraction that reminds me of the walk-through in Sydney Zoo, where we walk on a pathway and the wallabies roam around freely.
Big Girl insisted on me taking numerous photos during the walk-through, and then again when she got to pet a rabbit and guinea pig at an Animal Meet and Greet. The final stop was to see the sheep, cows, pigs and ponies.
A treat for a city girl.
There are plenty of picnic tables at Hobbledown and easy to bring a packed lunch, but there are also opportunities to buy food and drinks in the indoor play barn and snacks from a hut near the outdoor play area. For the May half-term, Hobbledown is hosting a five-day festival of mucky mayhem
