Planning a family day out at Chestertons Polo in the Park in Fulham

Polo in the Park Hurlingham Park FulhamLast time I went to Polo in the Park in Fulham’s Hurlingham Park I enjoyed it so much I thought we would be going every year. But then we became parents.

We had gone to the Saturday, enjoying Pimms, watching the international polo matches, and having a lovely time in the sun, and after this fun day out I didn’t put Polo in the Park down as a family event, so when i received the emails about ticket sales the next year I deleted them straight away.

This year, however, I’ve realised it will be the place to be for us over 30 with children. On Wednesday I went to a press event with Chestertons Polo in the Park at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park to learn more about what’s in store this year, and now I can’t wait to go back to Polo in the Park with the family.

Children’s entertainment company with a cool-factor Sharky and George, luxury family holiday specialist Original Travel and South West London’s children’s play centres Eddie Catz are in charge of the family zone, where there will be games, face painting, an inflatable obstacle course, a soft play area, an Original Travel parents lounge with comfy chairs and refreshments and lots more to enjoy throughout the weekend.

On the Sunday, which is known as the family day, there will be a Pitch Invasion at Polo in the Park from 11-1. This sounds truly amazing, with George from Sharky and George explaining he expects several hundred children (and parents) to take part in party games, such as a Sharky and George version of the game where children have to sneak up to a sweet bowl. In addition, there will be a giant tug of war, around 1000 water bombs, and a mini polo field where space hoppers will be used as ‘horses’.

It all sounds pretty brilliant, and if the sun shines from 5-7 June, I can’t think of anything I would want to do more than to get in on the action at Chestertons Polo in the Park, which brings the glamorous world of polo to our London doorstep.

With a fun-filled family programme, I would expect Polo in the Park to feel like the vintage fun fair at Eel Brook Common did last year–the place where you randomly meet neighbours, friends from nursery, school, swimming, Harbour Club and Purple Dragon all at once!
