Preparing for Father’s Day at Sammy Duder

Sammy Duder toy boxAlthough Big Girl is still singing the Mother’s Day song, Father’s Day is just around the corner. The big event is happening on Sunday 19 June, and I’m assuming Daddy T has huge expectations for the day.

That’s why we were thrilled to be invited to pottery studio Sammy Duder, where Big Girl and Baby Boy could make an adorable, personal present for their dad.

The relaxed and friendly atmosphere at Sammy Duder makes it a top South West London pottery studio for families, and it’s equally fun to visit Sammy Duder with babies and children.

We started out doing footprints and handprints when originally discovering Sammy Duder some years back, but with three-year-old Big Girl now being old enough to paint her family, the opportunities for pottery decorating are endless, and Baby Boy is happy to play with the toy box for a bit while she concentrates on the painting.

This time, I wanted her to have a large enough surface to paint all four of us, and we decided on a flat tray.

I must seem like a stressed out mum when I’m there, as I want her to make the most of the piece, which I know we’ll treasure for years to come.

I can’t give her black. We’ve already got one piece of pottery she’s painted black all over, and I keep having to remove the water, which is pretty tempting to experience with on the pottery.

But in return for giving a bit of guidance on the equipment, we have a super sweet present for Father’s Day with a cute painting of the family by Big Girl and Baby Boy’s thumb prints around the edge. I can’t wait to bring them back next year and see the development from one year to another.

Adorable childhood memories!

Sammy Duder in Battersea is open 7 days a week and offers a selection of pottery pieces to paint, and it’s also possible to make silver fingerprint jewellery and clay imprints, which can be framed and make lovely presents.
