0Finding a last minute maternity nurse
I spent a whole afternoon stressing about how Baby Girl would manage to establish a good sleep routine without the help of a maternity nurse.
Yes, people have managed fine without help before. But why run barefoot when you can buy a pair of superlight trainers with cushioning and airflow technology to manage tricky terrain?
After reading about the link between sleep and brain development in young babies, it doesn’t sound like it’s worth taking any risks. Only the best will do for Baby Girl.
I called around to friends with children for new contacts, filled in a request form with the agency the previous maternity nurse recommended, and emailed our antenatal course teacher for advice.
We’ve now ended up with booking a maternity consultant, who ran some of our antenatal classes. She will come for half a day now and then over the first nine weeks, starting on the first day we get back from hospital.
The aim is to get on the right track from the beginning, ensure we succeed with breast feeding, and establish a sleep routine when Baby Girl has regained her birth weight.
To help Daddy T, who has to go back to work after the first two weeks, we’re also looking at combining this package with a night nanny on some nights.
