2Finding a toy for practising clapping with baby
Baby Girl has a new friend. He can dance. He can wiggle. He can count. He can sing. He can raise his ears. He can clap. And when he falls over he simply says ‘oopsie’ or ‘oh oh’.
The new friend doesn’t whine. He always smiles. Even when Baby Girl throws her arms around him and gives him a big bear hug. This friend is one loving puppy. Made by Fisher-Price.
The Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn Dance n’ Play Puppy (around £45) is the latest addition to Baby Girl’s toy collection, and if she doesn’t play with him, he will sit next to her and watch her play with her other toys. She received him at a Fisher-Price blogger event last week to test, and as soon as we took him out of his box, I felt she had someone else than me to interact with at home.
He is particularly good at clapping, so if I’d known about him earlier, I would have bought him for her when I was desperate to teach her to clap. I could have saved myself a few rounds of ‘patty-cake’, as the puppy excels at demonstrating clapping and he knows several songs baby can clap along to.
What a great pal!
I ended up buying this after reading this review, however for £45, I found it quite pricey for what it does (or doesn’t do). My baby girl is 9 months, so perhaps she’s too young for this toy at this stage.
Hi Ellen, I think this toy will last you long at least. We’ve put most of the toys Baby Girl was playing with at 9 months in storage now, but she’s still playing with this puppy at 18 months. She now copies him when he says ‘Oh, oh’, and she dances when he does. She can push the button herself, and she holds her hands and claps with him when he’s clapping. I still think the toy is great for demonstrating clapping, and I’ve now also noticed he’s good for teaching her new words or expressions. Hope you’ll like it better in a few months’ time! Tine x
