Finding fun children’s tights to pair with skirts

Funky legs bird print tightsI recently bought Baby Girl bright pink and red tights, thinking it would be useful to have some spare tights to keep in nursery. But after a few weeks with something else than white tights to put on Baby Girl, there’s no way I’m leaving these top buys with a change of clothes kit.

After Baby Girl turned one, I’ve realised it’s really not that practical to only have her wear white tights. The reality is that they don’t stay white for very long, and I spend an awful lot of time rubbing on stain remover after she’s gone to bed in the evening.

That’s why I was thrilled to receive a pair of Funky-legs tights for free to review. I’m sure Baby Girl’s new bird print tights, available in sizes 6 months to 7 years, will be a big hit. They feel soft, and the tights will look super cute when paired with a skirt.

The beige and brown colours in the ‘bird stone’ tights should also go well with quite a few of her clothes. I can’t wait for her to try on her first tutu with these tights. Get ready to play dress-up, Baby Girl.

Hi Tine – Apologies, as this may seem a silly question, but what exactly is the correct way to put tights onto your baby girl? I have a 5 month old daughter so tights are new terrain for us! I’ve seen some babies wearing a baby vest underneath a dress/skirt for layering, but will button the bottom of the vest over the tights, which looks a bit “superhero” to me. But with my baby girl constantly pulling her skirt up, I’m not crazy about the upper part of her tights on constant display. The same goes for dresses that provide the frilly pants underneath the dress, should you put the tights on underneath the pants in the colder months? Would appreciate your view! Many thanks!

Hi Ellen! Good point – my little one was mostly wearing white tights at that age. If a dress comes with matching frilly pants, I put the frilly pants over the tights. If she’s wearing tights with a dress that doesn’t come with frilly pants, the upper part of her tights will show, as I prefer that look to buttoning vests over tights. Let me know how you get on! Tine
